Voices Of The River: Pathways To Peace
Saturday, February 26, 2022

A space for confluence and dialogue: organization of conferences and debates bringing together riverside populations, experts, philosophers, entrepreneurs. Objective: to bring out local advocacy and a new reading grid for projects with a strong integrative and equitable value of local interests, in particular those of women and young people. The results will be promoted at the 9th World Water Forum and integrated into high-level institutional reflections.

The Festival A Sahel Ouvert is organized by the public interest associations GLOBE and GSCD (Globe Senegal Culture and Development), whose slogan is "know your culture". It was born in 2010 from the desire of Senegalese and French artists to bring culture to the heart of the populations who have the least access to it, by associating NGOs specialized in development. In a unique approach in Africa, the Festival A Sahel Ouvert favors rural roots and relies above all on the involvement of local populations.
He thus defends a vision of the future: culture at the service of development!
A space to support initiatives led by young people
Through the project "Voices of the River, Way of Peace" and with the aim of identifying, encouraging and supporting the commitment of young people in the management of water resources and adaptation to climate change affecting the Senegal River , a call for project ideas was launched on December 20 and 22, 2021 in Podor and Saint Louis, through IPAR. This call aims to support innovative initiatives led by young people, in a spirit of contribution to reflection on issues related to water and the creation of local jobs.
Through the maturation workshop held on February 24 and 25, 2022 at the Festival à Sahel Ouvert village (FASO-2022) and organized by Globe as part of the "Voice of the river - Way of peace" project, the ten (10) best project ideas selected by the jury, out of a total of forty-six (46), will be technically supported. Three (3) winners will receive support of up to 2,000,000 CFA each.
The global water and sanitation community will meet in Senegal, from March 22 to 27, 2021, for the ninth edition of the World Water Forum under an evocative theme:
Water security for peace and sustainable development.
The 9th World Water Forum, the first of its kind organized in sub-Saharan Africa, is a great challenge. Its program is focused on the 2030 agenda for transformative actions. This vision is broken down into a roadmap with four priorities: water and sanitation security, cooperation, water for rural development and tools and means.
